How do you tell a pentax k mount lens from other lenses?
Q. I have a Pentax ist dl, I am looking for k mount film lenses at flea markets and such. How do I determine that a lens is k mount lens?

A. Qoph has some good links. When looking at lenses, avoid kr lenses!!! They have an extra pin that will cause the lens to get stuck on the camera (you can get the lens off, but it requires a feeler gauge. Learned this from personal experience). Also there are some other lenses that are labeled K but they have an extra little lip of metal near the aperture lever. These will not go on the camera at all. The best think to do is to bring your camera along with you and test the lens on the camera if you are unsure. Just be careful, you may even want to take a feeler gauge just in case.
